Focus will be on business and personal lending
(MIDDLETOWN, R.I.) February 27, 2023 – Centreville Bank has opened its first location in Middletown, R.I. The announcement was made at a ribbon cutting ceremony on Tuesday, February 7th at the new site, 1171 Aquidneck Avenue. This is the bank’s second free-standing loan production office (LPO).
“This is our first location in the East Bay and we are excited that it is now operational and available to businesses and individuals,” said Leland R. Merrill, executive vice president, chief lending officer, Centreville Bank. “This office will serve as a hub for our commercial bankers and consumer loan officers on Aquidneck Island. It’s the first step in our long-term strategy to increase access to our products and services to customers in this area of the state.”
Merrill explained that like their Providence LPO, the Middletown loan office is focused on commercial lending, business banking, residential mortgages, and personal loans. Customers can meet with Centreville bankers by appointment and the office includes a walk-up ATM/ITM (interactive teller machine), which enables 24/7 banking and access to “live” customer service representatives Monday through Friday from 7:00 a.m. to 7:00 p.m. and on Saturday from 9:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.
Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce President & CEO Erin Donovan-Boyle said in a statement, “We are thrilled to have Centreville open up and invest in the business community here on Aquidneck Island. Our small business community continuously needs access to capital and support from trusted financial institutions, dedicated to their success. I’m confident Centreville’s entry into our market will prove to be value added for them and the broader business community.”
Representatives from Centreville Bank's leadership team, board of trustees, the Middletown Town Council, the Middletown Economic Development Advisory Committee (MEDAC) and the Greater Newport Chamber of Commerce were among attendees.
This is Centreville Bank’s 11th office location in Rhode Island. In 2023, the bank expects to open three more branch locations including Newport and Smithfield, Rhode Island. This will bring the total to over 20 locations across Rhode Island and Connecticut. Of note, 2023 is the 195th Anniversary of the founding of Centreville Bank.
